Fantastic Football Food

Growing up around my house we really didn't watch much more than the Superbowl or an occasional high school game, until a few years ago. My step dad is one seriously die hard fan of the Steeler's. He's got the terrible towel and all. I thought all football bashes were the same a bunch of guys huddled around a TV with a bunch of beer, not at my parents. Its a party every Sunday with people stopping by to watch the game with various chips, dips, and other snacks.

My husband is from an area of Pennsylvania where people are serious about football. He can tell all kinds of stories from high school about having rocks thrown at him as his bus pulled into the stadium. When you go to one of his high school games, everyone wears their colors and stays to their own sides. Occasionally there is some mingling and there are security guards to handle that. There is serious rivalry.

I have none the less become a fan. Nothing beats watching a high school game on a chilly night with your honey. Likewise, football games are an easy way to have an impromptu party with the 3 F's: football, friends, and of course food.

Everyone knows that there are a few gridiron greats when it comes to what to have for munchies. Pizza and Hot wings are always a staple. Meatballs, nachos, dogs and burgers are also near the top of the list. Then there are always some healthier food options like a veggie tray, guacamole, hummus and pita chips for people who don't want to look like they swallowed a giant football.

But what if you combined a wonderful cheesy pizza with the spicy kick of a hot wing. The result would be not only easy but delicious.

This is fantastic football food for sure! You will need to make more than one. We never have any leftover.

Buffalo Chicken Pizza adapted from Sam the Cooking Guy

1 rotisserie chicken, shredded you need about 3 cups
1/2 stick of butter
4 TBS or more Frank's Red Hot
Ranch Dressing
1 baked Pizza Crust
1 package of shredded cheese, I like Colby Jack.

Preheat oven to 425.

Melt butter with the hot sauce in a large bowl in the microwave. You can also do this on the stove.
Add chicken and toss to coat.

Spread ranch dressing over the entire crust, top with chicken. Sprinkle with cheese.

Bake until crust is crisp about 15 minutes.

Next week: Come back each day for a new fall recipe.
