Everyone has them, the times when you mess up in the kitchen. I thought I would share with you one of my recent stupid mistakes.
So for about the past week, my husband and I have been going back and forth about the safety of slow cookers. I say they are safe to leave on when you're not home, he begs to differ. I will fast forward to the part where I win, and I make beef stew.
I cut up all of the veggies, get the meat around, and add them to the slow cooker before work in the morning. I turn the slow cooker on low and go to work. I am so, looking forward to showing Adam how wonderful the stew is going to be.
When I go to stir the stew when I get home, I bump the side of the slow cooker. It is as cool as a cucumber. I forgot to plug it in (Adam 1, Joy 0.) Dinner ends up in the trash and we end up having frozen pizza.
What are some of your flubs in the kitchen?
1lb stew meat
2 stalks of celery
1 jar of tomatoes
1 handful of fresh parsley
pinch of dried garlic
salt and pepper to taste.
Add all ingredients to a slow cooker, and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3 hours.
Just remember to turn it on AND plug it in.
