Fruity and refreshing, this orange granita is perfect for a hot summer night.
Orange Granita makes 4 servings
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar
2 cups water
Peel the oranges with a vegetable peeler, trying to get as little white as possible. Juice the oranges and place all ingredients in a medium pot over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Once cool, strain out orange peels and place the juice in to a shallow baking dish and place in the freezer. Scratch the surface of the ice every 45 minutes to create small ice shavings. Continue to scratch the ice until there is no more liquid and the ice crystals are small and frozen.
Serve garnished with mint.
